Dr. Rubin is a clinician and educator with national expertise in systemic lupuserythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune rheumatic conditions. He has participated in dozens of clinical trials. He has published numerous articles, and abstracts. He started two rheumatology fellowships – one in Texas and the other in Michigan, devoting much of his career to educating dozens of young trainees to develop into successful clinicians and academic rheumatologists.

Dr Rubin has served on the ethics committee, professional meetings committee and annual planning committee for the American College of Rheumatology plus having leadership positions in other organizations including president, Detroit Medical Academy; board of directors, Michigan Opera Theater; board of managers, Tarrant County Hospital District; and medical advisory board, Lupus Foundation.

Dr. Rubin recently retired as division head of rheumatology at Henry Ford Hospital and clinical professor of medicine at Wayne State University School of Medicine, both in Detroit. Before that he was division head of rheumatology at University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas for 27 years. He received his undergraduate degree from University of Illinois, and his medical degree from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his fellowship in rheumatology at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. Later he earned an MPH from University of North Texas Health Science Center. Dr. Rubin has been recognized by Best Doctors in America, and named a Super Doctor in Texas and a Top Doc in Detroit.
