Christopher Lathan, MD, primary clinical work focuses on care provided to lung cancer patients, particularly patients who are members of ethnic and racial minority groups. His current research interests focus on racial disparities in lung cancer, and on improving access to care for underserved cancer patients. He is interested in all areas of care delivery and feel that community engagement and assessment is of utmost importance. Cancer patients are vulnerable and knowledge about the distribution of symptoms, both physical and psychological, is invaluable in the assessment of disparities. Currently, he is running an outreach oncology clinic in a Federally Qualified health center in Roxbury, MA. This program is an innovative project with the aim of reducing disparities in cancer mortality locally.
